The front of the five dollar bill contains the words FIVE DOLLARS across the bottom and FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE across the top, with numerical five's in each corner. The average life span of a five dollar bill is 16 months.

Five Dollar Bill Reverse (2006)
Sections of the back of the five dollar bill are blanked out when viewed under an infrared light. Modern anti-counterfeiting technology was introduced to the five dollar bill in 1993. The anti-counterfeiting measures added were a plastic security strip and microprinting around the portrait of Lincoln. The five on the lower right corner of the reverse side of the five dollar bill is enlarged and purple in the Series 2006 print. The back also contains the words THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA across the top and FIVE DOLLARS across the bottom.
